Fall Wedding Reception Decorating Idea

When you think of a fall wedding, immediately, the thought comes to mind of pumpkins, Indian corn or any ideas revolving around Halloween or Thanksgiving. There's so much more when it comes to Autumn and planning a wedding reception during this colourful season.

One of the first things to focus on is the colour palette reflecting your fall wedding event. With so many beautiful rich and vibrant colours surrounding us during this spectacular season, which colour choice or choices not only blends with the season, but also works into the theme of your wedding. With purples or oranges being the top colour choices for fall and fall weddings, there are more warm and elegant colours to be considered. Copper, mocha, golds, chocolate, caramel or are in the brown colour palette, sea green, olive, sage, jade or moss are in the green family of colours. Shades of orange and brown are popular together, eggplant and olive, olive and rust, mocha and dark olive, or chocolate and eggplant are sure to give your wedding a fresh look of the season. There are endless possibilities for combining colours but limit yourself to two but no more than three colour combinations.

The Wedding Reception
For the festive nature of the season, wedding receptions can lend themselves to gorgeous decorations, and with the autumn's colours and motifs, creative brides have much to work with for inspiring ideas. Decorating the banquet hall or outside wedding area is among the most important part of entire wedding, highlighting the fall season.

If your thoughts are on an outside wedding, tie a battery operated mini party light inside paper lanterns and hang around the outside of a tent, once the sun goes down, the lanterns will give a warm and romantic glow. This also works hanging in trees or inside a barn style wedding.

Decorate an outside arbor with grapevines and string lighting throughout or hang small votive candles onto the vines.

If you're creative and a DYI bride, using the natural surroundings can work to your favour with table decorations. Cut up small tree logs into discs and then write table numbers on them to be placed on the reception tables, then do the same for place seating but use a smaller diameter with your gusts name and table number. Ideal as a rustic table number sign and place seating.

Do the same with pumpkins and carve a table number, and at the same time, the pumpkin can be used as a vase and filled with fall wedding flowers.

Using cuts from a tree also create great centrepieces for candles or flower arrangements, hollow the inside creating a vase or as a tea-light or candle holders.

Another rustic idea is craft wood tags labels and personalize with guests names using them for napkin ring holders.
Rustic style metal lanterns come in a variety of sizes and heights and have become popular at weddings for any season. Use as centrepieces or hang around the venue using candles or fall festive flowers
inside.

Spruce up the tables with burlap runners adding to the fall atmosphere.

Vintage French style pails or pitchers filled with chrysanthemums, daisies, hydrangeas with make for abundant centrepiece arrangement.

Place an abundant centrepiece vase of tree branches on top of a mirror, and then scatter petals or leaves reflecting falling leaves from a tree.
